possible xbox360 elite problem

i BOUGHT MY 10 YEAR OLD GRANDSON A XBOX360 ELITE RECENTLY.
HE SAYS HES HAVING PROBLEMS:
CANT TALK TO ANYBODY
PEOPLE/FIGURES KEEP DISAPPEARING IN GAME AND APPEARING ELSEWHERE.
he has already returned a game with similar problems but the problem continues.
sorry to be so vague but ive no teccy brain.
could this be a problem with the game or the console

That sounds more like a problem with the internet connection. If it's not running quickly enough then other players will seem to jerk around and disappear and then reappear somewhere else.

I assume he a broadband connection - if not then that's the problem. The 360 will only run properly with a broadband connection

he cant talk 2 anybody because you have to change his personal settings. you can do this by going on to the dashboard
