When you use a computer to connect to the internet, it's normally configured to allow the ISP's system to automatically assign a domain name server (DNS). However it's possible to enter the data manually into the computer. (You actually enter two DNS addresses. The 'primary' address is the one which the computer will normally connect through. The 'secondary' one provides a back-up in case the primary server is down or busy).
I assume that you require the same information for your PS3. In which case it will be available on the support pages of your ISP's website. However, if you're with one of the UK's main ISP's it will be quicker to get the information from here:
http://www.idl.uk.com/email/isp_settings.htm
Alternatively, you can enter the addresses for 'OpenDNS', which provides free DNS services available to anyone:
Primary DNS: 208.67.220.220
Secondary DNS: 208.67.222.222
