We have a wireless network and have Xbox live. Is it possible for hackers to access the Xbox this way and, say, maliciously delete the hard drive?

I wouldnt worry.
If someone was to hack into your network, im pretty sure they wouldnt want the data on your xbox.
Just set a password on your wireless network if it will make you feel better.

without a password in place they could certainly access your network but only really to piggy back your connection.
they would not be able to directly access your 360.
