Can PS3 consoles play Region 1 DVDs? TIA

Only on the original released 80gb version. The newer, slimline ones are locked down not to read multi region DVDs. Even the original ones had to be tinkered with (via the OS) from what I recall.

how about your PC? maybe worth trying if that reads region 1?

You can also unlock most dvd players with code from the internet. Both my dvd players are multi-region now.

Thanks for the answers! My boyfriend doesn't have a DVD player, just a PS3 (am guessing it's a newer one, am not sure!) so am guessing the code won't work?

go buy a cheap dvd player and hack it via remote or you can get a little file you burn on a dvd and read it in player and it wil unlock it

dvdreviewer has a few remote hacks, or richersounds used to sell multi region dvd players.
i done all of my dvd players i had so far and all worked a treat, stay away from sony dvd players though you need a all in 1 remote and the process looked hard :D
