x box 360 hard drive

HI, we had an old style 360 with an external hard drive. Anyone know if we buy a new 4gb x box, whether we would be able to use the same hard drive.. Thanks

As far as i am aware all Xbox 360 Hardrives are compatible.

I am afraid they are NOT compatible.

The new hard drives are about the same size as the xbox battery, where as the old hard drives are the size of a house brick.

Sorry i was forgetting about the Xbox Slim and thinking about the Elites etc.
When i got my Elite i didnt want to lose any of my music etc so i just bought a transfer cable and copied all of my info and files etc to my new 250GB hard drive and then sold the old 20GB one on ebay.
That might be a better option for you?

OP would have to buy another "large" hard drive. Or at least a "slim" with a larger HDD, to be able to use transfer kit. .

Dont the Transfer cables work now between the new and old style Hard Drives then? Thats just crackers!

Yes they do work, but the OP said they was thinking of getting a 4gb xbox, from memory the old xbox only started with 120gb memory.

I might be wrong here but I don't think the cable works the other way around, it will transfer small to large, but not large to small.

A 4gb xbox would be a waste of money, as that 4gb will get full very very quickly, for example the dlc for Red Dead Redemption, Undead nightmare will destroy 1gb of memory. Also when you un-box that xbox, you only have 3.5 memory really due to dash boartd updates and other internal memory settings.

Contact X-Box I had an X-Box 360 and the hard drive wouldn't work! So X-Box came collected mine! Sent me out a new one for free because they were very sorry for the fault and I also got a free x-box live card!
