I work in this company and we work shifts and there are two main foreigners in each team...
Me and this guy have the same role and we swap days and times. So if he works early mornings - I work evenings...and then we swap...
He went on holiday and while he was away he asked me what day he was due back...I said he's back Thursday.
I made a mistake! He was actually due back on Friday...so he came into work early Thursday morning..
I said sorry and we had a brief chat and then he spoke to some other colleagues. And then he went back home.
I emailed him in the day to apologise. He's still mad about it.
In my defence he should've written his hours down in a diary...although I do admit the mistake.
He emailed me and said he's angry, etc.
Do you think he's vying for more attention...do you think he's taking this a bit far...there is a bit of a spark between us?

If so, then you, him and your mutual boss need to get together ASAP to sort this out. He needs to understand that you made a genuine mistake, but that he should have been more self-sufficient and not have relied upon you to provide him with his shift details...
I agree with Mark. You are his equal not his supervisor, this is a genuine mistake. He is an adult and therefore responsible for his own leave records, too - I know when I have a day off, or due back from leave - why didn't he? He can presumably take the "mistake day" back at a later date! Agree that your boss needs to sort it out. "Spark between us" - don't read more into this than you have to. Being mad would be a very odd way to chat you up.
