Main channels are refusing to play it....

Question Author

Its a donating to charity song, books, you would think the radio stations, especially the BBC would be all over it?

Question Author

Why so Rowan?

They didn't play Boris Johnson is a **** a few years ago or Ding Dong The Witch is Dead after Thatcher died, so there is some balance.

They played Ding Dong for 45 seconds, once. (According to someone on Talk last night, possibly Andre Walker)

Question Author

Yes,because one was using the C word, the other was mocking the deceased. This song has no sweary words or mocking the dead. The only one being mocked is Starmer. As far as im aware he is still living.

Over the years quite a few records have seen an increase in sales after being banned by BBC and other stations- remember Frankie's Relax and Sex Pistols God Save the Queen.  if it's played every hour or so, there's less incentive for people to download/stream it; if it's never played people may be more likely to download/stream it once they know through other media that it exists. Airplay is not a big factor these days for chart success

Question Author

Mind you Starmer might be a C word.Just saying.

They generally avoid playing blatantly political records.

The publicity from the ban is gold dust,  I listened to it,thought it was a very clever parody, but one hearing was enough.

hurty words are banned.we all know how fragile starmer is

How about Dave Cee, Maysy, Bozo, Lettuce & Titch with "Hold Tight!"

An example of a political record that was banned ( albeit over 50 years ago) from airplay was Give Ireland Back to the Irish by Paul McCartney & Wings.

Yes it's a clever parody but makes we wsnt to hear the Mud original.

Glad they still play Driving Home For Christmas...thougt it might be seen as encouraging climate change

Did you download the song, ynnafymmi?
