Manhunt 2 being deemed too violent for release.
7 Answers
The bbfc have not yet classified the rating for the forthcoming rockstar game Manhunt 2.
The media are still blaming the first Manhunt game as a reason a 14 year old schoolboy was murdered. Investigating officers actually found a copy of the game at the victims house and not the murderers house.
As anyone out there who has played Manhunt before it's all about clearing up the crime in the area and not about mindless violence against innocent people.
Anyone else agree?

I have got a copy, but gave it to a friend as I didn't think it was that good.
I used to play the first Carmageddon game, which encouraged you to run over pedestrians, but it didn't make me want to get in a car and do it for real, but then I know it is just a game, and has no bearing on real life.
However, the press always blame video games.
There is no proof for this, it is easier to do this than assume that the murderer already has problems, and, as you have pointed out, the victim owned the game.

Sony and Nintendo have a policy where they will not accept games with an AO (Adult only ) rating. Rockstar knew this and still went ahead with making Manhunt 2 AO. The company brought it on themselves, they should just alternate the game a little to make it suitable for 16's and therefore be able to sell it.
Do you really? I dont agree with the video nasty phenomenon. I think if a kid is bad, he is bad. He is still going to kill someone. Its a load of old rubbish. My nearly 6 year old, has a healthy love of zombies. He knows full well they are not real and aiming for the brain in real life is bad. If a 6 yr old can grasp that then surely a teenager can.
I know that video nasties were blamed in the Jamie Bulger case, what a load of pants. I have seen lots of violent/horror films and games and yet I have never been in so much as a punch up and real violence makes me sick.
Yet for some reason, shoot em ups are fine.

I played the first one, it was so boring the only damage i wanted to do was to the game disc itself. Honestly, i played it for about 30 mins and was just fed up, my brother who gave it to me said he only gave the game to me because he found it boring.
I know the second one is causing uproar but a friend of mine worked on it and said the violence is only progressing as much as it has in movies. I agree with Goodsoulette, if you are gonna knock someone off then you don't need a film/game/musical influence to convince you to do it!
