tomb raider 'anniversary' [the centaurs]

To all the dedicated gamers out there playing Tomb Raider anniversary.
here is a problem for you to answer.:--
'KILLING THE CENTAURS'
Have watched all the youtube videos, looked at umpteen walkthroughs, can understand it all, ie adrenalin rush (can do that)
BUT have frozen the centaurs till I am blue in the face, I throw the grapple BUT it will not stay attached to the ring on the sheild to let me pull it.
What am I doing wrong?
Help!

I couldn't do it either LOL!,so i cheated.
I loaded the save point for the next level on this link and played from there.

you dont throw the hook when you have turned them to stone you fire like blazes with the shotgun, you only use the grapple when you stun one with the adrenaline dodge
