i get sky channels with no subscription. i would like a dvd recorder for late night programmes i miss. im not too bothered about recording a different channel to what im watching. and i dont really think i need a box with built in freeview (cos it would interfere with the free sky that i get?). can anyone tell me what product i need to be looking for?
Hi I have just bought a dvd recorder with hard drive it's brilliant. Just go onto tv guide and mark program you want to record no setting timers it's great. Sky comes on automatic at start of program and goes off at the end. Also can pause live tv if you want then go back and watch it.
As futricat said - see if you can afford a DVD recorder with a hard drive. Much easier to use the hard drive and then archive to DVD when you want to. If you only want to record and not archive to DVD, get a Freeview with hard drive (the Freeview won't interfere with your Sky). This would save you some money. Using just a DVD recorder means having DVDs to hand and having the right capacity. If you do use a DVD recorder, try to use rewriteable DVDs to save cost.
Phone up Sky and cancel. You'll the get the 'free' channels - check out the Internet first to see what channels you DO get. Obviously you don't get the premium channels and you won't get the likes of "Lost" and "24" (but there are ways round that - nudge, nudge etc.
gpatto, as wideboy said, I only get the bbc channels, itv channels, the 'five' channels and no movies or sport or mtv. but i found i didnt watch most of the 'pay for' channels anyway, so when i cancelled i really havent missed them, just been saving 17 a month to save for what i now know i need - a dvd hard disc recorder. thanks everyone x
