standby light doesn't stop flashingon ps3

I turned on ps3 and went online to play cod4, I left it for about 5 mins and when I came back it had turned itself off and red standby light was flashing, I then turned it off at the back and on again and green light came on for about 2 secs then started flashing again also the game is stuck in the console.
Any advice would be welcome. Please HELP!!!!!!

totally unplug the power for 5min and plug it in again.

if it still doesn't work, leave it unplugged for the night and try again tomorrow.

If still no luck, it's broken!
