The above was born in 1867/8 in Dudley Port (Great Bridge), on the border of Staffordshire and Worcestershire .............. found her on the 1881 (visiting the Bridge Inn, Birmingham) but need to find her on 1871 census so I can see her parents names .... can anyone help? Think I have tried every possible transcription error, but am clearly missing something .... TIA

It is a transcription error and it is Henry and Alive Forrester nee Schofield. Alice was born 1842 daughter of Benjamin and Alice Schofield.
On the 1861 she and her Husband Richard Henry Forrester are living with her widowed mother, and sister Betsy is still at home.
I have added the transcription error amendment to the Forrester family and to Alice Shaw and included in the update the relationships and who Alice's mum and dad were.
*Alice not 'Alive' tut, typo!
Yet again an error by the ancestry transcribers causes hassle, the surname of Henry and his family is very badly written I have to say, and Forrster is not a name I would have guessed at, but Alice Shaw seems quite clear to me.
I think that sews it up don't you dotty?
Have been following this thread in case I could help but well done yet again dotty and craft
I do indeed craft, well done, I've also added comments to the profiles of 3 other people who are on ancestry and have Alice Schofield missing on the 1871.

Cheers otherhalf, abit of tenacity does the trick!
ooo benjamin schofield was from marsden Yorkshire, makes sense, it's a Yorkshire name

Thanks Craft and Dotty .... so many answers that I have lost my way!!! Who are we saying Alice's parents were?? Sorry to be such a dumbo - am sure it's there but I have confused myself!!
Alice was the daughter of Thomas and Betsy Shaw nee Schofield and in 1871 she was lodging with her Mum's older sister Alice Forrester nee Schofield. Betsy Schofield was the daughter of Benjamin and Alice Schofield (I think Alice was Alice Yardley but that's not 100%).

Ahh Thanks Dotty - you are a star - I knew you would explain in words of one syllable for a numpty (that's me of course!!) Just need to try and take Alice Maria's father Thomas' line back now ............. wonder how many other variations of SHAW they have transcribed!! Thanks so much ...... and to you Craft also!!
He was baptised in Tipton 25 April 1802 son of John and Maria Shaw
Question Author
Thanks Dotty - how did you find the baptism? Is it something I should be able to see on ancestry?
no Family Search.org, can you get to this link?

Question Author
Got the link to a search page Dotty, but this is all bank - but I guess I can register to see the records - will give it a go x
no need to register, it should be set on the left to IGI, in the name boxes put Thomas Shaw, then the date, then select the event, birth/christening, then the region setting, britain, england, stafford and the list of baptisms come up and you should see the one for Thomas at Tipton near the bottom

Got it - lovely Dotty - thanks so much for your help - again!! x
