Have you tried this it's the parish records from the Mormons' site. It should come up with the English counties but if you choose a county and they click on the main page link they also have Ireland, Scotland etc.

I'll have a job craft these are mainly in Leicestershire. I've got a Humphrey born in 1620 married to maria, but their children in Family search are listed as Hugh being born in 1627 Edward 1634 and William 1637. I think he might have managed William when he was 17 but I.ve got doubts about the others. It is so confusing also I think Leicestershire records are missing for the 1600's, I looked at the Leicestershire CC website I think its mentioned it on there. Feel a bit bereft I can't the birthdate for John c1600.he could be Gt Grandad Mk10 and Elinor pratt, except they were married in 1618 Breedon on the Hill. I've google earthed Appleby Magna as well it looks as if its in the middle of farmland.
Thank you Carrot99 that site is great, at least I've managed to confirm quite a few of the links, and it's thrown up others that I'm not sure about, alas they only take the 1700-1800's.

I was going to the Shetlands last year with my sister but she had to cancel.....and I don't fancy going there in the winter.

It crossed my mind to go to look around Appleby Magna and the surrounding area. hence the Google and the look at Leicestershire CC website. It's about a 100 mile journey and the OH wouldn't be very happy wandering around looking for my ancestors, especially when I'm not sure where to look anyway.
The Shetlands would be a bit bleak in wintertime. lol.

I found out some info by ringing the vicar of the village where some of my ancestors lived. He kindly had a look through old records for me............

The leicestershire website offers a research service for £15 per hour. It would be my luck to land with someone a bit on the slow side.

Ironmonger I've had an interesting evening, I have found some more family who may not be in my direct family line but have been members of the C of E church in 1590 to 1631, schoolmasters Rectors priest and curate. Didn't realise I was backed by the Church.
