Lost credits
I bought some credits (about £6) especially to look up the 1911 census on findmypast website. They run out if you haven't used then all up after so many months. I came back from holiday to find mine had expired and no way I can get a refund. I bet loads of people lose money in this way - what a scam!!

You'll lose the credit on a pay-as-you-go mobile phone if you don't make any chargeable calls within a fixed period (which is 6 months with most providers). Your Tesco Clubcard vouchers will run out if you don't use them within 2 years. The return portion of your rail ticket will cease to be valid if you don't use it within one month. Credits on web services such as 192.com run put after either one month or 6 months (depending on the package purchased). Some store gift vouchers have to be used within a fixed period after purchase, etc, etc.
"Use it or lose it" is a common rule.

I think I may be drummed out of British Geneaology, I posted a question the other day, the site is advertised as free, and the upyourself person who responded gave me a link to another 'host' site that would cost me £15 to look at. I wasn't even sure that the family I wanted was on this link, so I thanked the person for the response and told them that I thought it was a ripoff as I may not get the results I want after all. They did not print my reply. I wonder why?
