Herbert Winterbottom

An old name from my youth came up the other day Herbert Winterbottom who moved from the Saddleworth area to South Wales, is he still alive

He's not listed on 192.com but that only means that he's not on the edited electoral roll and that he doesn't have a listing in the Phone Book. He might have elected to have his name withheld from the edited roll and have an ex-directory phone number (or no landline phone).

If you mean the Herbert W Winterbottom who was born in Oldham in 1921, he died in Stockport in 1997.

There was a Herbert E Winterbottom born 1945 Saddleworth (had a brother John and a sister Janet)...........I can't find his death anywhere so assume he's still on the go................

think you are close craft he had a twin sister Janet, but his brother was Malcolm, but could be John Malcolm, Herbert was like myself a secondary school tearaway, where Malc who was a couple of years older was a Hulme Grammar school boy and always well dressed witha good looking wife, Herbert started his working life as a plumber but did not last long,fisticuffs involved,he then had a spell in the merchant navy,and came home and went on the bins. i didnt see him for years after, when i did he had a welsh accent,safer see,was his answer,but that was 30 yrs ago.

Janet got married in 1963 to an Anthony G Haynes but I can't see them anywhere in Lancashire. Herbert E Winterbottom got married in 1974 in Mid Glamorgan to either Margaret Jacre or Margaret Llewellyn but I can't see them on 192 either...............sorry.
