Oh thanks for that. I went to my local library last week as they use Ancestry but they didn't know if you can find the Isle of Man records on there.
When I go again tomorrow there will be someone there who has more idea how to use Ancestry.
I was hoping to find my great uncle but I don't know when he moved to the Isle of Man.
I only met him once where he lived in Onchan and that was about 1955, he name was William A Sellars/ers/ors.
I was hoping to find out how many children he had.
I think his wife was called Elizabeth Harriet.
Haven't I looked for him before?
If I remember correctly he was in England in the 1911 census, which is the latest you can view (or have I confused him with someone else)
Yes that's right craft.
The problem I have is that when I find something I scribble it in a book and then I can't remember where I got the info from.
In my book I have written that they had a daughter Bertha who was born (I think) in 1899 and a son Joseph Arthur born 1909/10.
I'm hoping to be able to confirm that and then move on from there.
In 1911 they'd had 4 children but only 2 still living.
SELLARS, William Arthur Head Married M 35 1876 Bleachworks Labourer Lancashire Longseyes
SELLARS, Elizabeth Harriet Wife Married 14 years F 36 1875 Lancashire Bridford
SELLARS, Bertha Daughter Single F 12 1899 Lancashire Gorton
SELLARS, Joseph Arthur Son M 1 1910 Cheshire Newtown
Craft I don't know if you will come back to this but I just wanted to say thank you for finding this info for me.
I went to the library and spent 2 hrs looking for this family on the 1911 census and couldn't find them.
Did you get this off Ancestry?
