Granddad's medals

I've got a photo of my Granddad, not in a uniform, but he has 3 medals hanging from a chain across his chest. He also seems to be wearing a badge on his lapel.
How can I find out what these medals were?
He died about 1955.

Thanks ironmonger, I'll take a look.
In the photo, can you see the medals in detail missprim the colour of the ribbons mean quite a lot.

Had a look at that website but it's showing HTTP status 404 so it looks like an error somewhere.
Tony there are no ribbons they are just hanging from a chain across his waistcoat but it's a black and white photo anyway :-)
Can you see what they look like though, missprim.
If you can see what they look like Google 1st World War medals and see if you can identify them.
