Is it possible to do just a street search on ancestry to find out who lived on a particular street.

Should have added on the census returns.
Which year/s?
I think you can on all census up to 1911 of course, although I found difficulty sometimes as street names changed or merged into one. Good luck
I don't know about Ancestry, but you can on Findmypast.co.uk. You would have to pay to see the results, of course.
Click on Census and voters listfrom the top, Click UK census collection on the right, Scroll down to the bottom under the blank search form on the left, click the census year you want , (bottom left) this brings up a menu on the right where you can choose the county and town, then select the enumeration district the search options increase to inlude streets and page/ folios and so a far more detailed search
I can do you a search on FMP if you want..............

Narborough Road, Leicester
Family name Shardlow
Address possibly Shardlow House.
1911 203 Narborough Road - I have checked the original census return and no Head of House was listed so I assume they were elsewhere on the night of the census. 203 was a big house, it's shown as having 10 rooms.

How weird that in 1911 there was no Head listed but I see that the father died in 1903 (what a lot of money he left) and the mother died in 1908.
Sorry to hijack your thread Sigma - but I am trying to research a particular address too ...... and am struggling, even with Dotty's instructions as I can't see the list of years for census to click on ..... HELP!
Go on then echo :-)
Are the above the correct Shardlows 'cos there are some more at number 47?
for EK:
go to ancestry home screen
on the top line select 'search'
from the drop down box select 'census and electoral rolls'
to the right there is a list, the top choice is UK Census Collection, select that
scroll down the page and under the green header there is :Included data collections, select a country and year
look on the right and you can select county and civil parish / town
the street search line comes up on the 1911 but not on earlier returns
Thanks Dotty - and apologies again Sigma (and Craft!) .... Dotty, I am there now, well actually, I am not!! I am looking at the 1911, England, and it asks for an Enumeration District .... is there an index of these, as I have no idea and there are lots and lots listed!!
I'm here echo................
Hi Craft .... am I being thick? There are 47 Enumeration Districts for the area I am looking for the street in ..... any way to narrow it? Perhaps it's too late and I should be looking with fresh eyes, as clearly missing something! TIA
If you tell me the address I will look it up on the 1911 census on FMP, this will give the enumeration districts etc so that you can look at this info on previous censuses on ancestry..........
Ah thank you Craft ...... It's Bank Street, Walsall, Staffordshire x

Many thanks craft, they were the correct family.
The printers mentioned were Adams Brothers & Shardlow Ltd.
