Just out of interest to me March-Hare, where in Walsall did they live ?.
that last one is an odd one, the head, Enoch is recorded as married, but there is no apparent wife. his children from married isn'r right either.
If this is the Joseph Arthur born 26th May 1901, died December 1978 Walsall, who married Elizabeth Hockell, born 1st March 1902, 3rd quarter 1921, I think that you need to get a copy of his Marriage Certificate to trace his father and take it from there.
I've found another Arthur Holyhead in walsall on the 1911, no joseph that looks close

Name Relation Condition/
Yrs married Sex Age Birth Year Occupation Where Born
HOLYHEAD, Alfred Head Maried M 69 1842 Labourer Iron Works Staffs Darlaston
HOLYHEAD, Sarah Wife Maried
10 years F 52 1859 Leicestershire Congershire
HOLYHEAD, Fred Son M 19 1892 Heater Ironworks Staffs Walsall
HOLYHEAD, Arthor Son M 9 1902 Staffs, walsall
that ws on FMP and ancestry have transcribed him as AUTHOR HOLYHEAD aged 8 but FMP have him as 9, on the original image he is definately 9.
Alfred the father only married Sarah 10 years earlier, the older son Fred must have had a different mother, there is again some corrections to the years married and children of the marriage, it's been changed from 10 born, 2 living and 8 deceased to 1 born 1 living 0 deceased. this could be your joseph arthur as the dates fit well too.
ancestry have also mis-transcribed the father's age, he is 49 in 1911, not 69.
though maybe not, there is an arthur hollyhead registered in walsall in 1902, mind you i had him on another 1911 i'm sure, yes he was the one recorded in navigation street and transcribed by ancestry as 7 not 9.
Alfred, Arthur's father born 1869 was the brother to the Enoch found earlier.
Cannot find a marriage in 1901 for Alfred and a sarah.

Thanks Dot .... I will look properly during the day today ..... and Tony: Blakenhall/Blue Lane/Birchills wide of town

Never seen so many transcription errors as I have seen on this tree!!! Keeping me on my toes!!
the more I looked at this the more i'm thinking the joseph arthur HOLYHEAD resgistered in 1901 is the AUTHOR HOLYHEAD on ancestry, the fact that the surname has stayed the same throughout must mean it is how the family were spelling it and it's only changed later on to HOLLYHEAD. Certainly Alfred and his father David seem to have used Holyhead on their census returns back to into the previous century
March-Hare, some of my ancestors come from the Blue Lane and Green Lane area of Walsall.

Hi Tony ...this question was for a tree I am working on for someone else - but my relatives too (in part) had roots around there and also Short Acre .... drop me an email sometime at [email protected] and perhaps we can see if there is anything in common
Will do March-Hare, thanks.
