Grave Marker

After many years we (my cousin and I ) have finally located the last resting place of my great great grandmother (my cousin's great grandmother) and her grave does not have a stone/marker at all. There are quite restrictive regulations at the church regarding erecting any markers and so we are researching small stone markers rather than a large headstone.
so far we have thought about a plain 2" thick flat stone 12"x10" for £65 or one 15"x12" for £85. The wording we have decided on could be letter-cut for £65 and £85 respectively. This is the options of size the vicar has suggested to comply with their regulations.

Does anyone have any different ideas on how to get something simple and long lasting for a similar price?

That stone price seems expensive Dot, I'm sure you could source a piece from a quarry or mason for less.

I have an idea not sure if it'd work though.

You could buy a piece of marble tile the size you want, draft out the engraving on the tile, then take a small or medium drill bit and drill the carvings, then paint the carved bit. Hope this make sense, and you understand what I meant.
