Does anyone know where the quotation (if indeed it is a quote) 'burn the baskets, the grapes are gathered!' comes from? Who said it, and why? I say it a lot for various reasons, but who was the originator? Thanks in advance.
French writer Francois Rabelais,
Farewell baskets, the grapes are gathered.
Catchphrase from Friar Jean des Entommeurs exhorting his fellow monks to stop praying and repel the soldiers who are vandalising their vineyard. ( a call to arms )
