as i am adopted is it possible to find out any of my biological family history?

For more on marking an answer as the "Best Answer", please visit our FAQ.That is an interesting question, it brings to mind the actress, who used to play the mother in the comedy show with Emma something, she played the boyfriends mum, small lady, not the one that was the nurse in Romeo & Juliette, anyway, she could do the splits I recall, so.... in about 1994 or 5 she attended a conference I attended at I think The Society of Genealogists and it was about genetically inherited conditions. I would need to think abit harder about it but I know there was a new type of family history research emerging at that time that was very involv ed in the genetics and inherited diseases. I shall try to remember more but if you google The Society of Genealogists you should find something.

I too am adopted:in fact my user name is my preadoption one. Tracing your biological parents and any full or half siblings is by far and the best way to discover if there are possible hereditary dispositions, but equally death certificates of biological parents and their forebears can also give occasional hints.
Just be very very careful and sensitive how you go about it. It is all too easy to offend and end up with rejection.
