From the information you seem to have already you will be able to order his marriage certificate from the General Regioster Office if you can find the reference from the GRO index, if you havn't used the index before go to ancestry.co.uk and follow the tutorial on how to read it.
If you get the certificate it will give you his age at marriage and his fathers name which will take you back to the GRO index to get his birth which in turn will give you his mother sname, hopefully then you will be able to find him in the 1901 census. It is just a case of using these indexes and records to compile the information that takes you to the next step.
If you know where he is buried that might be a good place to start too, as his gravestone may yield some info.
Hi, Samuel married Mabel Cooke Q4 1896 in Nantwich (8a 599). The 1901 census shows them boarding with Margaret Frayne, a provision shopkeeper, at 26 Chester Road, Northwich, Cheshire with their 3 year old daughter, Ethel. Samuel's age is given as 29, born in Manchester. His wife and daughter were born in Crewe.

Have you tried genesreunited? I've found quite a few relatives on there - including a first cousin I've not seen for 30 years. They have all been helpful.

I remember a man named Sam Kershaw when I was a little girl possibly late 30's early 40's. He used to arrive with a lorry to deliver fruit and vegetables to the shop next door to us. My grandfather was a barber and Mr Kershaw used to come in to have his haircut. We lived at Lostock opposite the ICI. I don't think he came all the way from Manchester and think he must have lived more locally possibly somewhere in Northwich. Thought this snippet might be of interest. Sheela.
Try www.Cheshirefhs.co.uk. I have just found Mabel Kershaw died 1942 Macclesfield Ref No.MAC/8A/65 but I couldn't find Samuel - maybe he moved away from Cheshire after Mabel died.

Thank you Sheela
I have already got these details I know that Sam left Mabel about 1901 with Ethel and newborn son Harry who was born at Northwich Union Workhouse the story goes on to reveal Mabel had another son William in 1904 but Sam was not his father and he lived at the workhouse until the age of 13 Mabel died in childbirth but don't know when or where Sam returned to Manchester where he had several shops selling fruit and veg in the Old Trafford area the elder 2 children Ethel and Harry were brought up by Mabel's mother Mrs Cooke
Hope you get this message. I am also looking for Samuel & Mabel. I think Mabel was my Fathers' Mother. He was John Kershaw born 1911 one of twins Charles died at birth. Mabel died in 1917. Hope to hear from you.
