Ghost Sightings

Has anybody seen a spirit, or think they have. Any "out of body experiences" or heard some thing ghostly. This is your own stories, not ones you have heard or read.
When I was seven my parents and I stayed with a great aunt in the country for a holiday. The first night I saw a woman in the corner of the room I was in, she was about four foot off the floor. I put the blanket over my head too scared to call out and finally fell asleep, then I saw her the second night I told my dad cos by then I was really scared. I heard the aunt tell mum a girl had hung herself twenty years ago, she said which side of the room and she'd had long curly black hair. Both of these were exactly as I had seen. I was so scared and was moved into her daughter's bedroom.
When I asked dad about it he said it was possibly imagination cos I was over tired, not to listen to his aunt she liked to tell stories (strange woman) and I wasnt to be afraid. Even when I was older I often asked but dad said he couldnt explain it and I was not to worry.

Last year I was working for basildon council testing out empty council properties,I was working in the kitchen on one property when I heard a bang coming from upstairs like something had fallen down quite hard.
I went upstairs to see if anything had fallen over but there was nothing there to fall over and I new for a fact that there was nobody else in the house.
So I went back down and carried on working and did not think to much about it.
Then about 20 mins later there was this almighty thud that came from upstairs and it was defnattly not from the houses next door as this was the sound of something being thrown on the bare floorboards upstairs with force.
So after wiping my bottie clean I plucked up the courage to go upstairs again and again there was nothing up there but bare floorboards.
Anyway I finished what I was doing and left thinking well thats just one of those things that will go unexplained.
I got to my next job and one of the blokes working there said to me have you been round the haunted house yet (bearing in mind nobody else on the firm except me knew that I was going to this house on that day.
So bearing in mind that it could possibly be a wind up I said no what haunted house is that then and he said the address which was the one I had been to and he said that one of the labourers that worked on the firm was working upstairs when he heard footsteps (will carry on in a mo as might be running out of space)

then he felt a presence behind him and he said that he felt a tingle down his spine, but of course there was nobody there and he was alone in the house, and somebody else had heard things crashing from upstairs.
This was definatly not a wind up as I said nobody else knew that I was going there that day and the noises that I heard especially the second bang could not have been made from anything else except something being thrown very hard on the floor.
So there you go that will forever in my mind be one of lifes little mysterys........

The only one that ever happened to me is documented in a few places and happened about 10 years ago when I worked in a pub.
I'd worked in the kitchens for about a year when the place was taken over. As the place dates from the 1600's the kitchen is an odd design and there was a corridor part to it which I had to walk up to a door and turn the light off, then walk back down in semi-darkness.
Occasionally I was sure a woman would be standing at the top of the corridor and I never looked back when I switched off the light. Never saw her, although someone else claimed to see a woman very close to there shortly before I left....so maybe it wasn't imagination.
I could deal with this occasionally and nothing really happened for the first year until shortly after the pub was taken over.
One night around 11pm I was in the kitchen just mopping up and I saw a movement. I looked up and there was a figure best described as a boy of maybe 10 or so going by height, running across the side of the kitchen...!
He was completely 3D, but kindof a white / mucky cream / grey mix in colour and moving very fast. He ran partly through the worktop and microwave then vanished shortly beforee the real storeroom door as if he'd run through a door I couldn't see.
Now, I shot out of there like a blinking rocket and spent the next 5 mins looking in from the restaurant, then finished up quick and got out of there. At this point I didn't tell anyone for a long time.

If this had happened once I could put it down to time of night, but it happened another 3x, although in the following times I discovered he ran through a door from behind the kitchen, turned right and always followed this path.
Because it could be months between appearances even I started to wonder about myself seeing this. That was until not that long before I left. I was in the back passage area where this boy ran from which connected the kitchen to the bedrooms upstairs. I shut the back door, turned round and this figure ran right behind me, through the door into the kitchen and I assume down beside the kitchen.
That was the proof I needed as there were no external windows there so it wasn't car lights, and it fitted with the time and place where he went. It turned out, this area had originally been the stables for the inn so I suspect he was a stable lad or similar.
We suspected he is there at other times too as there are tales of guests shoe laces being tied up as he runs past the bedrooms, one of the cleaners said someone tapped her on the shoulder up there and another guy said a very cold wind blew down the corridor which was impossible as the windows won't open. I've never seen anyone change their minds about ghosts quite so quickly...! :)
I did try watching around that time of the night just incase he came every night, but didn't see him. Still remains a mystery as to why he runs through the kitchen / stables late at night....

It is a fact that ghosts are more likley to apear at night. It might not be a ghost, memories held within an area can often be replayed from time to time. One method of catching them is with a camcorder. Once i was doing some filming with the video camcorder and i kept hearing these weird noises. I raced into the bedroom but nothing was there. Later when i was running through the footage i caught this voice. It sounded like a man was laughing at me because i was scared. If you can't get them with a camcorder try setting some flower or sand down in their path. I haven't tried it myself but i have been told it works
when we were kids me and a mate saw a ghost of a world 1 soldier in our local cemetary he was kneeling in front of a military headstone [you know the white ones] he had a world war 1 uniform on and when we returned [after origanally running away] it was the grave of a young soldier who was killed in action in 1918 i still go to that cemetary to this day and often walk past this gravestone but have never seen anything untoward to this day we were 12 when this happened and we still often recall this incident whenever we meet up.......spooky.
I can't remember too much about it, but the house we lived in when I was small up until I was about 13 was really spooky - apparantly there were numerous sightings of someone sitting at the top of the stairs. I don't remember seeing this, but i have always had a fear of sleeping in a room with an empty chair in case I wake up and someone is sitting in it, so I suspect that I had seen something when I was too young to make sense of it. When I was about 10 I used to come for lunch on my own, but there were days when I got to the house, touched the handle and knew that it just felt really bad, and I couldn't go in. My mum was really glad when we moved - I think that she had seen a few things that she didn't want to remember!
I also used to work in a building that was made up from a whole string of big terraced houses in a crescent - although joined together, each building retained its own character and one in particular felt really malevalent. We were relocating and the started to empty the building from that end and locked up each building connecting doors as it emptied. I worked in the next building to that one, and if I was working late, I could hear banging and shouting on the other side of the doors even though I knew the building was empty - that was always a good reason to leave for the night!
The security guard told me of one night hearing a baby crying in another of the buildings - he followed the source - thinking that maybe a window was open and it was coming from outside - he came into a room and could clearly hear the baby, then he a heard a woman singing from within the same room and the baby stopped - he said that when the singing started he felt really peaceful and safe.
That whole block has now been converted into very expensive flats - there are only a few that I feel I would want to live in though!
