It is good value for money to join ancestry.co.uk fror 9.95 per month, you get 1841 - 1901.
one way to get the searches done for free is to offer reciprocal research in your own local library but you woulkd need to be involved with the charitable family history societies

The following link will give you access to birth death and marriage records ... it can be frustrating at times as not ALL reocrds have been transcribed but it's certainly worth trying before paying, if you are only looking for one or two details..... anything more and it's worth subscribing to ancestry.co.uk

If you wanted just 1 or 2 things looking at I can offer to try and look for you?? Post the details here later if so. The other alternative is to register free on www.genesreunited.com and search for other people researching your family and "steal" information from them .....but you have to trust their information - can be useful for verification of your own research especially.
