Hi, I am trying to fin d out if someone has died. I know they travelled to Malta in 1926....I have the passport....but have come to a dead end....no pun intended! I have rung Malta but they cannot help any ideas anyone ?
If they were a British citizen their death should have been registered, so you need to find out who handles the British Maltese register office records for that time. It might be worth making an enquiry via the National Archives at Kew who should know who knows this.
From what I can read into this page:~ http://www.gro.gov.uk/gro/content/deaths/regis teringanoverseasdeath/index.asp
If the person you are seeking DID die in Malta, then the British Consulate may have dealt with it.I don't know if that is who you have spoken too?
If they are no help then possibly The General Register Office may have a record of the death.
More Information:
It is a High Comission (now) in Malta, not a Consulate (sorry).
Here is their contact page.It might be easier(and cheaper) to send them all the details of your query by email? http://ukinmalta.fco.gov.uk/en/our-offices-in- malta/contact-us/
