My Mother was born 1891 and I find her in the 1891 and 1901 Censuses but not in the 1911 - yet she was alive and kicking because she got married in 1917. Any ideas on where to look for her?

many thousands of women withheld their name from this census for universal sufferage, however, it doies depend on what her social standing was, oif she was in service she mat have been omitted because her mistress refused. She could have been travelling, you may ne4ed to look in otehr counties. she may have been recorded incorrectly. search for her siblings or parents, if you find them and she is not there then try variatioons on her surname

Thank you dot.hawkes and DrFilth; I never thought of her as a suffragette but she would have been 20 years old which was a likely age. It has also been suggested that I might prefer not to know what she was up to!
