One of my relatives and her sister were adopted separately, is there anyway they can get a copy of their original birth certificate?
My aunt (call her Ivy) was born one of triplets to her unmarried mother. They were apparently all put into a home when first born, then one sister was adopted by an aunt, another was taken to live with her maternal grandmother, and later adopted by her step-father when the mother married when she was 4 years old. They were led to believe that the third triplet died, but do not know this for sure.
What happens to the original birth registration as I cannot find their births on ancestry even though I know their birth date?

The local register office should have the original entry, all with the same reference as with any multiple birth, but there should be a reference in the register that the babies were adopted, that is assuming their birth was registered within 6 weeks of their birth, is it possible they were not registered until adoption?

I don't know dot....they were born in 1936 in Deal, one of them was adopted by an aunt in Deal but the other went to her maternal grandmother in Pontypridd. She was told she hadn't got a birth certificate, just adoption papers, but surely, by law, their births would have had to be registered.
Yes they would have ad to have been, but then do you know whether the babies were registered in the mothers maiden name? Sounds to me like they weren't, so then you could look for 3 birth registrations in deal with the same reference, might take a while tho

Thanks dot............I've found out the biological father's name today so will see if they were registered with his name.

I've found the two living girls registered under the father's name but no mention of a third anywhere...........I wonder if Ivy is confused and the third was a stillbirth.
That makes no sense, i they were not married but the father's name is on the registration that means he attended the register office. What happened to their Dad?

I don't know dotty..........Ivy knew nothing about him until the 70's when she was visiting her aunt in Deal (the one who adopted her sister). They were in a pub when the aunt casually said "There's your father over there, do you want to meet him".....my aunt declined.
