Anglesey Hoopoe

Along with a Purple Heron we now have a Hoopoe to add to the list of rare visitors.
Purple heron at Malltraeth RSPB Marsh and at Dwyran, and the Hoopoe at Llansadwrn ( between Menai Bridge and Beaumaris ). Unfortunately the idiots ( Twitchers ) have been along and disturbed the Bird and had an irate Farmer on their hands as well.
Not sure where the Hoopoe is now but it will turn up elsewhere no doubt.

Had a Hoopoe, down here last year, I never got to see it because of all the bl*ody Twitchers coming from miles around , droping their litter making loads of noise and mess.

I love hoopoes, I first saw one in Tunisia years and years ago, you can't mistake 'em!

I haven't seen it either, don't really know where it has gone, since it has been disturbed by a few selfish and inconsiderate people. It should turn up again but maybe in a different location.

On the bright side though, I have seen the Honey Buzzard around all weekend, and now have a pair of collared doves in the garden.

Went to a country fare today just up the road, and there was a falconer there, he had an American Eagle Owl, it was huge, and had the most vivid orange eyes, he made the Harris Hawk look tiny!!

My neighbours call me a twitcher because i go bird watching. It's very infuriating to be classed with these mindless morons!! I saw my first one earlier this year in Spain. Wish all birds were this easy to identify.

We have four young collared doves in the garden, they're really pretty, no sign of the parents though!........a little odd as they used to visit my bird table frequently!........

Welshlibranr, the doves are very pretty, we don't get them often down here, too many wood pigeon I guess.

Chaffinch we see them often, but have never had the babies around the garden until this Spring!.............they're lovely!.......

Definitely consider myself a Birder, not a Twitcher. I watch for the love of the birds, not to add another to a list to compete with others who do not have the welfare of the birds at heart. If it means disturbing a bird I'd rather not see it. Better go before my halo slips.

I do lists.... life list, year list....garden list, place lists,,,,,holiday lists.... but wouldn't twitch unless it was fairly local and for something fairly easy to recognise... seen hoopoes but not in uk so would probably have wanted to do that one for my uk list

We had a Hoopoe in our garden in Bedfordshire many years ago. I'd never seen anything like it.

Spain was the last place I saw some and they were everywhere.

According to todays info on the local Bird Forum, the Hoopoe has moved elsewhere since being disturbed by a few selfish 'Twitchers'. I would love to see one and I envy those of you who have. Hope it turns up again locally and it gets left alone so that other keen Bird watchers can view it for the first time.
