GCSE's taken a year early at 15

My daughter has taken her GCSE's a year early at 15 and just got the results she passed English, Science and History but failed Maths. So she can retake the Maths next year. Trouble is I dont want to rely on the school alone to get her a pass as she wants to go to 6th form for 2 years. Should I enrol her on an additional course of an evenining or something similar? Do they take students who have not left school yet on evening courses at Adult colleges etc. The colleges are all closed now so I cannot find out. ?

Not always. My Sister attended an evening class between 14 and 17 years old!

If she has already taken her GCSE's can she not go into the 6th form a year early. What will she be doing for the next year. Is she taking more GCSE's? Surely she will have more time to do extra study and work on her maths whilst at school - I am sure the teachers will be pleased to give her past exam papers etc.

At 15 after a day at school and with homework, is it fair for her to take on additional courses during the evening.

You could always get her a private tutor for a month or two just before the Maths exam. One to one help would be far more beneficial than an evening class with a lot of adults who may be so rusty in Maths that her learning rate will be far faster than theirs.

well i recently undertook a maths course at college. I would have been more than annoyed if there were kids in the "adult education" class. I'm guessing colleges want to fill up their courses with paying pupils, ratgher than people who are doing the exact same course somewhere else, being already paid for.

Well done to your daughter, but not sure if she can leave a year early. Would not like to say; can you not ask the school for help? They should know, if anyone does.

She cant leave school a year early, she will study Maths for the last year and English to get a higher pass grade (hopefully an A grade), obviously the Maths classes will be more intensive and more frequent. I just want to give her the best possible tuition for good grades. Thanks

Private tutor is the answer and can cover her weak topics.
