EastEnders sublime silliness
Does anyone else share my observation as follows?:
Phil Mitchell returns to the square, on the run from the police. A confirmed alcoholic, he shares a cheeky vodka with Billy, whilst of course needing a clear head to avoid police detection. Swift entry into the Beale household follows, and despite punching Ian outright, Ian gets up and is ok, and then tortured into cooperation by having his head....flushed. Phil crashes through the Fowler's kitchen door, coffin-dodger Pauline manages not to have a heart attack, and then runs through the square to the Arches chasing Ian's non-existent cash. Although chasing an armed robber, the Met's finest decided a firearms unit isn't needed, and corner Phil, who in a scene reminiscent of the Bourne Identity, takes out several officers, before being arrested....at the Holy Grail of the Mitchells - the Vic, where less than two months previously a grisly murder of Phil's downfall character took place. Come Thursday, Pauline seems completely non-plussed by the whole thing.
