squier strat

Hi,
I am still on about this squier strat. does anyone have one?? does it sound like the shadows hank marvin strat? mine does, even made the rest of my band clap after I did "the young ones" intro bit at our reunion.. everyone impressed. I bought this secondhand for £31 and am deadly concerned that it sounds and plays better than all the real Fender strats I had, they never sounded anything like this and they cost real money. I can play this through a cheapo 10 watt Hohner amp and the sound is brilliant, dire straits sultans of swing, all the shadows numbers, a real heart grabber. Do all squires have the same sound, or does it make a difference where it was assembled? this one is China. dated 1999.
just been on ebay, they seem to be selling at £55. this is unreal!!!

Thanks fender 62, Had a read, interesting stuff, as usual lots of different opinions. my strat is 99 model made in china, so apparantly the bottom of the sought after models, but still think its better than any of the proper fenders that I have had, but it may be that I was expecting them to sound like hank marvins strats. I can't understand how some have magnetic pick ups, some alcino, and some have another cheapo make, and yet they are strats, I thought that the word strat meant that they would sound like hank marvin, so thats where I may be getting confused. so is the hank marvin strat sound only common to certain strats with fender strings?
