Planning Father-in-Law's; he didn't leave anything behind to say what he would or wouldn't like, so we're having to guess. He was a keen supporter of The Legion, and RAFA from his service during WW2.

He'd probably love and be proud to have a RAF flag over his coffin, but is that only for those who died while still in service? Or can you dress a coffin in whatever you want?

It is OK to dress his coffin in the RAF flag as he served with them and would be a very nice thought. It doesnt have to be just for those who died in service. Have a word with your undertaker he can proably arrange it but if not look for your local RAF veterans association and they will have a flag they use.

Was he a member of the Legion? I'm a civvy, always have been, but when I joined to use the club, aside from swearing allegiance to the queen, my membership application included a section on whether I would like military aspects to my funeral (flag, pallbearers, military salute, bugle, etc. might be worth contacting if he was a member.
