Is mouthwash dangerous?

I saw on the news recently that drinkers have increased risk of mouth and throat cancers.

I often use mouthwash, which has alcohol in it.

Am I putting myself at risk?

I believe mouthwash is quite dangerous, yes.

If you spill it, it can be terribly slippy.

I read that some time ago, and it stopped me using mouth wash for a while. I later read this was rubbish................

This all started because oral cancers are more common in heavy drinkers due to the effect of alcohol on the lining of the mouth and throat.

There is no compelling evidence from any respected trials that mouthwash (alcohol containing or otherwise) has anything to do with an increase susceptibility to oral cancers.

My cousin had a growth removed from the inside of his mouth, thankfully it was not cancerous, but the surgeon did ask him if he used mouth washes, which he did. He was told to stop using them as they were not good.

you can get low alcohol or alcohol free ones

I only use the alcohol free ones, I think they are better, not so fierce. There are many on the market nowdays.

I think perhaps I will change to alcohol free, just in case.
