As you may have seen the ASlevel physics coursewok has come around (that would explain all the questions on bricks!!) my question is what is the difference between a pyrometer and a thermocouple, I looked up the defintion of a pyrometer and was told that a thermocouple is a type of pyrometer and one definition siad that you need to use both, as in they were two different things! help please!!!!!!

A pyrometer is ANY instrument used to measure very high temperatures.  A thermocouple is just one such method.

wow, an intelligent question about this coursework from someone who has looked into it themselves, and has a pair of brain cells to rub together. this has made my day so far. good luck with it

noo i'm not actually, i'm doing physics A2 at the moment (well, just finished it!), but there have been soo many questions on here of the same type about this brick thing that all of us are getting sick of it! especially since lots of people answered the first couple, and so there are the basic answers on those and then just snide remarks on the following ones about the search option! it just made me smile that someone had thought about this and not asked us to do it for them. hope it went okay!
