iteresting answer Mr Pedant. The authors of "discworld2, the Globe" would argue that myths are part of the "make a human" kit of most societies and therefore ARE there to teach a lesson, albeit not in the upfront way of fables...but okay, I admit it, I sent yanira to aesop because i thought that that was what was wanted
I think of it the other way round, woofgang: myths are dreamed up to explain things, such as why the sun comes up each day, why the Nile floods (though some are much more minor and spcific legends about the love life of the gods and so on). Not about making humans, in other words, so much as about making their world and explaining their place in it; and not consciously designed to teach lessons. Aesop's fables were lessons all right, so that could be what yanira's after.
