On a recent visit to Germany I bought a lttle ornament alled a Scuss Engel (angel) I know that there is a legend about these angels, but can't emember it. Can anyone please help. Thanks.

In German, a Schutz-engel - which I imagine is what you are asking about - is a guardian angel. The legend that applies to those is that we all supposedly have one who somehow looks after us throughout life. Spot on - a Schutzengel is a "guardian angel" in German. I could be wrong, but I don't know of any specific German legends about them; the widely-held connotations outlined by Quizmonster above suffice.
