Dorset Regt.

My grandfather was in the Dorset Regt.but I find references to the Dorsetshire Regt.Can someone tell me if they are they same.

I believe it was called Dorsetshire regt until early 50s when it became the Dorset regt (the Dorsets).

But his medals from ww1 have 'Dorset Regt.' engraved around the rim!
I know of The Devon and Dorset regt. Used to be at Wyvern Barracks, Topsham rd, Exeter. The barracks are now used by the University Army training Corps and the TA.
