Colorado does have the death penalty but uses it very rarely. Hard to say about this guy.

On the news he looked as if he was completely drugged up, and did not have a clue as to what was going on.

his defence will plead insanity...but the prosecution are pursuing a death sentence after meeting with the victims families...they dont mess about in america but it may take a few years to get him to the gurney,old sparky or in front of a firing squad...

Not that it matters but it seems Colorado uses lethal injection method.

no....he's quite obviously not right in the head at all. i firmly disagree with capital punishment, particularly if factors such as mental health issues; learning disabilities; and/or other social factors may be involved in that type of incident occurring. i'm not saying i advocate what that lad has done at all, but he must be in a terrible place right now along with all of the people he has hurt beyond any of our (and most others) understanding.

The State of Colorado reinstated the death penalty in 1976, but exercising it has been rare. There has been only one execution in Colorado in the past 30years, that of Gary Lee Davis, who was executed by lethal injection in October 1997.

as for looking drugged up....he has probably been sat on by a team of officers and given rapid tranquillisation since his detention. probably several times. from what was written about him, he was quite unwell after he was arrested. meds like that are enough to knock out a horse......particularly if given several times.

So often in the UK there are people who oppose the death penalty. Their argument is always either humanitarian or 'one cannot be sure of guilt'.

So would anyone dare suggest that the guy in Colorado might be innocent and not have done this dirty deed? Is there any doubt? Of course he did it - therefore he should face the consequences and if that means the death penalty, so be it.

It should also have applied to James Bulger's 'assassins'; and a few other creeps who are without doubt as guilty as hell - but their lives spared by the do-gooder brigade.

noone said he was innocent....but probably not in control of his faculties. that is an entirely different argument altogether.

Way too early to say anything much at this stage, too much unknown.

From what I read it could be a year before it even comes to trial and a lot can happen in that time and, as regards any penalty, there will be strict legal guidelines rather than it being morality based (I'd have thought so anyway).
