Mystery "cow" on camera

We have a Panasonic compact camera and each time we download photos we have a picture of a cow from a previous series of pictures. We have formatted the card and we do not have the lock on, the signal says no image, it does not appear on the camera itself. How can we can we get rid of it ??

Can you see the file name of the cow image? Search your computer for the name.

remove the card and see if the cow image is still on the camera, some get stored internally (to the camera) and not on the card

Does image viewing software automatically launch when you attach the camera to your computer? The image may be located in a folder connected to that software.

You may still be right bibble ... the camera will default to showing pictures from the card if there is one inserted & will simply be saying that the card is empty.

access the camera via your PC, I think that some pics stay on your camera after they have been deleted, these files are however accessible from your PC, I may be wrong.

I do often find these pics via my PC.

it is definitely not on the internal memory, and it is not on the computer file as this happens on different computers ! and yes it does have a file name it says it is a copy !!

Try searching your computer hard drive for the filename and delete anything it finds.

Just realised you said it happens on other computers, so it's got to be on the camera somewhere.

I'd guess it's on the internal memory but it's not being displayed because the file name doesn't match what the camera is looking for.

What's the actual model number of the camera?

It has not been found on the hard drive !!

Remove the memory card
Go to view pictures (this should automatically show pics on the internal memory)
If the picture is there, delete it.
If you can't see, it, try formatting (with the memory card still removed).
