Does anyone know the meaning, or origin of this word/name? Pampletine Cliffs are a feature of Filey,but no one seems to know how they got their name.

Perhaps a barque called Pampletine was dashed against them in a storm three or four hundred years ago, an event that left no paper record.

Thanks Alba, Ian who runs the Looking at Filey Site is one i'm trying to help.It was only his suggestion that it could have been named after a barque but he's not certain.
