Thank you that sure brought back memories, I moved to Weston as a teenager in 1944 and lived in the Knightstone area all my life. John
I live in Bristol, and use to go there a lot for day trips with my parents when i was very young.

I presume you mean Weston Super Mare ?

Well the Balmoral used to sail up and down the Severn Estuary, calling into places in England and Wales. The Waverly was another one I can remember.

Something I can remember, although not very clearly as I was only little when it happened, is the old car ferry that ran before the Severn Bridge opened.
Some great pictures there Baldric, if only it was like that now.
Used to go there in 60's

drove through about 10 yrs ago along the front, didn't stop.
I can remember the Campbell's Pleasure Paddle Steamers calling at Clevedon Pier on route from Weston-super-Mare to Bristoil

they started the trips up again some time ago, i remember you could get the waverley and it would go down to ilfracombe and back, they'd have a swing band on board. was good fun. I think they still do them
mccluff - I saw your comment about Broadchurch and Hill Street, Clevedon. When did you live in Clevedon? I was there from 1965 to 1970, working at The Clevedon Mercury in Six Ways.
