Its our son's 18th in 2 wks and I'd like to buy him something to keep along with his 'main' present which is money! Anyone got any good ideas that aren't old fashioned e.g. cuff links or an engraved beer glass - I don't think he'd appreciated them!
Thanks!

A watch?
Trendy case for his mobile phone?
A course of driving lessons
I'd second the watch
A suitcase... That's what I was always promised... I never got one. [i] I did leave home at Seventeen though ;-)
Flights to Ibiza :-)
a good watch..
a newspaper from the day he was born
Newspapers a good one, I did get given my Birth certificate and a 'Baby's own book' photo's, notes etc..

I think a watch is the best idea that I would have appreciated.

Without knowing his likes it's a little difficult.
we all had good watches as gifts on special birthdays.. my mother is good like that.

Thanks for your suggestions! I'm sure he'd like the flights to Ibiza the best....but hard luck he wont be going!!
A Suitcase.....what a brilliant idea!!
Think I may look for a watch :)
An special inerests yelenots?

I'm not sure people wear or keep watches in he same way we did a generation ago; the time is so readily available on our phones and ipads.
lots to choose from where watches are concerned, depends on how much you want to spend, look out for Tissot, excellent make, and you can get some good deals... reputable jewellers will do them.
may, they do, we do, and i have had mine for almost 20 years, it was bought for a special birthday, milestone..
Maybe a wallet for the money or how about a personalised friendship bracelet?
if i asked mine he would have said concert tickets

His hobby is athletics, he competes in the 400m......and enjoys football too!
Friendships bracelet is a good idea too - they are all wearing them more so than watches!
Season ticket to his favourite club?
What sort of budget are we talking?
^ That might cost a fair few quid
