Been To Aldi Again Today

We're getting used to the place and the dairy, cooked meats, fresh fruit veg and meat products are really excellent. The bread too and the cereals. I just wonder if that's just because it is seasonal produce we are mainly buying and come the winter months the lines will change. Must say it's massively cheaper than asda or tescos. Reckon at least £15 a week less, my daughter even moe saving, nearer £30.

Dot...I started using Aldi years ago when there was hardly ever a customer in there because it was quiet and NO muzac.....It really is good all year...x

We find you have to use the veg relatively quickly, but otherwise it's excellent value for money. They have come out top supermarket again for the second year running.

If you're onFB 'like' Aldi ad every two months on so they will let you know when the vouchers are in the newspaper (can't remember if it's the Mirror or the Sun) - £5 off a £40 shop plus vouchers for money off other stuff.

Dot I love Aldi. From what you've said on AB in the past I know you like Bacardi, try Aldi's own. IMO a lot better and much cheaper.

Their dishwasher tablets are very good.

I always used their washing powder tablets, brilliant. Used Morrisons in error last week -rubbish.

As much as I like Aldi I wonder if the big 4 will try to buy it out / take it over. Much like Asda did with Netto. I hope Aldi are big enough to stop it happening.

That will never happen .They have far too many stores in the world for our big four supermarkets to buy them out.They're pretty global and even have shops in Australia .

I remember seeing the photos of the riots in London with the Aldi store going on fire. The insurance claim for contents came to 23p

Netto was mostly European and they still operate in Germany ,Denmark ,Poland and Sweden .They didn't have much success here,hence the takeover .Aldi on the other hand have 9,235 stores worldwide including America .

I hope you're right Shaney. When Netto was in my home town it was always very busy. Aldi which was next to Netto was not. Since Netto closed Aldi has been manic.

I can't see them being taken over by our lot ,same with Lidl .They're pretty global now too.
I like both and shop there regularly ,especially the instore bakery at Lidl.Lovely rolls , rye bread and apple turnovers :)

No Lidl her Shany. I am happy with Aldi but, I cannot get everything I want there. So need to go elsewhere for other things.

Yes I know what you mean Jeza ..they don't have absolutely everything that you need.I shop around and tend to go there mainly for stuff for Mr S .He's German and likes his pickled herrings and Black Forest ham etc, etc .

I have an Aldi and Lidl next to each other...there is a Waitrose too but I avoid that.
I once had to top up at other stores but rarely now...both have all I need with the little shops in town for specialist stuff when I'm flush. x

I've never been to Aldi or Lidl as I detest shopping so have had my groceries delivered for the last 15 years or so. I do use the local butcher though................
