We had just got ready to go out to a fireworks display where we were also meeting friends for a night out. OH waiting in the car for me and as I opened the front door to join him, something dashed passed me nearly knocking me over. OH shouted from the car " Its a cat just run into the house" !!. Well it was a dog, but as small as a cat which ran up the stairs but all bedrooms closed fortunately, so he just sat on the stairs trembling, poor thing. I couldnt just chuck him back into the street as there were lots of fireworks going off and if he had run into the road with fright....
So we both sat in the car outside our house with the dog on our lap wrapped in the car blanket to keep him calm until hopefully, someone came looking for him, which they did about 30 min later. They only live down the road. He had escaped from the garden !! How stupid to leave him in the garden on a night like that. Luckily, we had our night out but I would have been really annoyed if that dog had kept us from it as we were wondering what to do with him
Hope everyone else had a great night

Poor thing, ours isn't too bothered by the fireworks if we're indoors but he needed a wee last night though and I let him out, well it was the quickest wee in history.
Well done you for comforting the poor dog - don't they wear collars with a phone number on anymore ? Ours always did.

Glad there was a happy outcome.
It was good of you to sit with the dog and perhaps miss your night out...x

What a lucky dog to have you to take care of it.
