Oops, snap!
According to this website, the hospital was closed, then reopened, and now the building is still in use, although not as an RAF hospital:

Its very much in use today as the Princess of Wales Hospital, Ely.

The Princess of Wales Hospital (Cambridgeshire Community Services NHS Trust) sees more than 40,000 patients a year through its specialist outpatient services. The Princess of Wales Hospital is a former RAF establishment that opened in 1940. It was renamed from RAF Ely in 1987 following a visit from HRH the Princess of Wales and in 1993 was taken over by Lifespan Healthcare NHS Trust and began to develop its services.
The main hospital site is open from 7.30am to 6.30pm. For individual service opening times please contact the service direct, etc etc from the NHS website.
