Libreoffice 4 Big Problem

When I try to open a document in LibreOffice I get an error message -
'Cannot be started. Start setup application to repair the installation from the CD or folder containing the installation package.' I don't have a CD. So if I reinstall the programme will I lose the documents already on my corrupt version.

Your documents are stored separately to the program, so you won't lose them. Try an 'on top' installation of LibreOffice first. (i.e.try reinstalling it without uninstalling it first). If that doesn't work try a 'clean' installation (i.e. uninstall & then reinstall).
