The answer is Son of the Bride, a short-lived (one series) UK sitcom from 1973 starring Terry Scott and Mollie Sugden, and an Argentinian film (Spanish-language title: El Hijo de la Novia) from 2001.

In television terms, 1973 (see Littleoldme's first response above) is 'historical'. Most people in Britain did not even possess a TV set until the mid-50s, so the early 70s is 'way back in TV time.
