How about the Iceni?
More of a tribe than a civilisation, Daisy.
Define civilisation.
Question Author
pffft how about the people called the humans!! there a bunch of parasites if you ask me idk how they got any type of power lol
LOL @ Daisy. Fair enough, the Iceni were a separate civilisation, totally different from the rest of the Ancient Britons.
Question Author
lol
I guess a civilisation develops when people have the necessity to organise themselves and set up some kind of law system. The Mesopotamians were obliged to work together in order to irrigate their farms and cities then developed. Hunters and gatherers can just swan about but farming brings folk together.
Question Author
what about the close nit groups of family hunter gatherers ?
the Aztecs had a lot of mass human sacrifice to placate their gods (Mel Gibson's film Apocalypto is fairly accurate - except it's about the Mayans, who were much less bloodthirsty). They're probably the civilisation I'd have least liked to live in.

The Vikings were great explorers, though at sea the Polynesians left them for dead. But they too were cruel and brutal. I'm not sure they count as a civilisation; they didn't really have big cities (I think York was the biggest, and it's not even in Scandinavia).
Question Author
eh they still destroyed almost every thing they came across (romans) they were feared by just about everyone most likely they owned alot of things like the oceans they were most found in yea i doubt you would go through there
Question Author
basicly it might not have been a given on where they ruled and how much they ruled it was prolly just oh look viking ships imma nope the hell out of this ocean
Question Author
and i should point out that were vikings were from it wasn't a very good spot to make great cities and stuff so it makes sense that there biggest cities wouldn't be in Scandinavia
yes, that's why they sailed abroad. They introduced lacrosse to the native Americans. They went by river as far as Constantinople (Istanbul). Nothing to do with the Romans, though.

Still great ones for getting drunk and committing atrocities.
I'll go for the Greeks, they really knew how to slaughter and sacrifice....
So many marauding men! That is why I went for the Anasazi.
Does civilisation mean that killing has to precede it?
not necessarily... but if a civilisation is successful you often get overcrowding and quarrels over land, which can lead to wars.

That's a shame - you were on such a roll... :-)
