black cats and white cats

hello ive heard the myth that if a black cat crosses your path it is bad luck does this count if you actually see one or if it just runs in front of you, would there be any use of turning around and walking another way? also the same question for white cats do they resemble good luck if they cross your path or if you just see one?

I always thought it was GOOD luck for a black cat to cross your path, but BAD luck for you to cross a black cats path!

alot of people are saying its vice versa in uk and usa im from the uk personally i find that everyone ive heard mention it say its bad luck for black cats to cross your path

In Spain it's bad luck for a black cat tocross your path and guess  what we've just adopted?  doh!

I was born and brought up in London, UK and have always believed and been told that black cats are lucky

I'm from the U.S.  Here I've heard that it is bad luck for a black cat to cross your path, I don't think that turning around helps at all.  I've never heard a myth about whit cats.  I believe the myth started during the witch trials, as people believed that black was evil and cats were a witch's familiar.  I would personally stay away from white cats with red eyes.
